Aladağlar Has a Special Place in Our Hearts.

Among all the mountain ranges in Türkiye, Aladağlar holds a unique and personal significance for us. More than just another destination, it feels like our true home — our own playground where we grew up, learned, and matured. We are endlessly excited to share with our participants the very adventures that shaped us in this breathtaking region. These mountains are not only a hub for mountain sports in Türkiye but also one of the world’s significant wilderness areas. We always strive to carry out our activities with deep respect for wildlife, local resources, and the people of this region.

For nature lovers and those eager to walk in the mountains, this tour is one of our specially curated experiences that showcases the immense potential of the Aladağlar region. On this tour, after enjoying some of the area’s most memorable trails, you’ll have the chance to spend a night under millions of stars — camping in the heart of the mountains, beside serene alpine lakes. Aladağlar’s wild rock walls, deep valleys, cathedral-like peaks, and ice-cold springs will nourish both our eyes and our souls. At the end of each day’s adventure, our welcoming guesthouse accommodation will offer comfort and rest amid this untamed landscape.

This tour takes us through highland meadows and scenic trails, along valleys and up to viewpoints that fill the spirit with awe. It is recommended for those who have previous hiking experience, are over 12 years old, and have no significant physical limitations.

  1. Tour Program 4 Days

Day 1: Ankara – Çukurbağ Village – Guesthouse Check-in – Elek Lake – Kazıklı Ali Canyon – Emli Valley – Return to Guesthouse
We meet our participants in Ankara. After an early morning departure, we arrive in Aladağlar around midday. Following lunch at our guesthouse, we head out for a short warm-up hike starting with a transfer to Elek Lake. Our trail begins next to a gushing spring, winding through apple orchards and into a unique valley known as the nesting ground of the chukar partridge — one of Aladağlar’s most iconic birds — and home to scenic sport climbing routes. We will admire the impressive walls of Kazıklı Ali Canyon as we enter the Aladağlar National Park. Continuing along the path to the Emli Valley campsite, we’ll pass by ancient tombs carved into the rocks. After a short break at Emli Camp, we return to the guesthouse for dinner.

Approximate Vehicle Transfer Time: 4–5 hours

    Activity Duration: 3–4 hours

    Hiking Distance: 9 km

    Elevation: Elek Lake – 1350 m, Emli Valley – 1800 m

    Included Meals: Lunch – Dinner

Day 2: Sokullupınar – Arpalık – Hike to Dipsiz Lake – Return to Guesthouse
After breakfast, we transfer in 4×4 vehicles to the Arpalık area. From Sokullupınar campsite, we follow a rugged highland track to Arpalık plateau, then continue on old nomadic trails. As we hike along the western and northern flanks of the majestic Büyük and Küçük Demirkazık peaks, we’ll find ourselves in the arms of the Cimbar Valley. We’ll take a break at Teke Spring, known for its ice-cold, pristine waters — one of the finest in the Aladağlar. Gradually gaining elevation through the valley, we reach the Dipsiz Lake campsite area, then hike on to the glacial lake itself — one of the region’s most dramatic natural amphitheaters. After a break by the lake, we return to Arpalık via the same trail and meet our vehicle. As the sun sets behind the towering peaks, we return to the guesthouse for dinner.

Approximate Vehicle Transfer Time: 45 minutes

    Activity Duration: 6–7 hours

    Hiking Distance: 14 km

    Elevation: Arpalık – 2290 m, Dipsiz Lake – 3000 m

Day 3: Transfer to Emli Valley – Alaca Highland – Oluksekisi – Emli Valley – Return to Guesthouse
After a hearty breakfast, we transfer to Emli Valley. We pass through the lush Mangırcı forest and ascend to Alaca Highland, a scenic point with panoramic views of the Aladağlar’s highest peaks. We enjoy our packed lunch and continue on a trail that weaves through ridges and valleys. Eventually, we begin our descent to Oluksekisi, a traditional shepherd site. The rocky trail meets the forest again as we continue down to the valley floor. After a short break, we follow a trail where red soil and lush green vegetation create a stunning contrast, eventually reaching the Emli Valley campsite, where our vehicle awaits. Dinner will be served back at the guesthouse.

Our hike continues through the shadows of the high canyon walls, occasionally passing beneath rock overhangs. At the valley’s exit, our vehicle will be waiting to take us to Demirkazık Village. After a short break, we begin our journey back to Ankara.

Recommended Gear & Suggestions for Our Trekking Tours in Aladağlar

Travel Bag:
For intercity travel, you should bring a sufficiently large bag to carry your belongings. A note: Please avoid bringing hard-shell suitcase-style bags for nature tours. These bags can cause issues during vehicle placement, transporting to the camp area, and when entering tents. Soft bags like sport duffels, backpacks, or carry-on bags are ideal for this trip. When carrying our camping gear to the event locations, please make sure to bring backpacks that are suitable for carrying camping loads, providing comfort, and ensuring safety.

Backpack:
It should be large enough to hold the things you’ll need during the activity of the day. We do not recommend carrying items outside your backpack or in your hands during nature walks. Therefore, medium-sized backpacks, with a capacity of 30-45 liters, are most suitable for these types of activities. Many backpacks now come with rain covers, which are essential during rainy weather. If your bag does not have one, we suggest you get one separately.

Sturdy Hiking Boots:
For your health, please avoid wearing overly flexible and soft-soled shoes for long hikes. If you’re a regular hiker, we recommend investing in sturdy, orthopedic trekking boots designed for hiking. Remember that waterproof features are essential in boots for the rainy seasons.

Spare Sports Shoes:
For comfort during travel and as a backup after hikes, we recommend bringing a spare pair of shoes. You can leave them in the vehicle or at the camp for use after the trek.

Socks:
Trekking socks with reinforced toes and soles are more comfortable and healthier for walking. We suggest carrying extra pairs of socks for all hikes.

Gloves & Hat:
During colder seasons, it’s essential to bring gloves and a hat. Choose hats that cover your ears. Even in the summer, it’s good to bring gloves and hats for high-altitude tours in the mountains.

Hat:
We recommend carrying a sun-shielding hat with a brim that also protects your neck in all seasons. Bandanas or buffs can also be used instead of a hat or with a hat all year round.

Raincoat:
We particularly suggest lightweight, breathable, and adequately waterproof rain jackets or anoraks. Anoraks made from Gore-Tex or similar materials are our preference as they allow sweat to escape while keeping you dry from rain.

Fleece Jacket and Warm Clothing:
Fleece jackets and half-zip fleece sweatshirts are excellent for nature activities as they are lightweight and do not absorb moisture. We do not recommend woolen clothes for outdoor activities, and puffy jackets take up too much space. Therefore, wearing fleece under a breathable raincoat is more comfortable.

Pants and Shorts:
We recommend synthetic or semi-synthetic trekking pants. Cotton clothing like jeans or linen is not ideal for outdoor activities as they restrict movement and take too long to dry when wet. Shorts are generally not recommended for treks as they don’t provide protection in rugged terrain.

Drinks:
We strongly recommend carrying 1.5 – 2 liters of water on hikes. Sugary drinks should be avoided as they increase dehydration. You may also bring hot beverages in a thermos if you prefer. Especially in autumn and winter, or on higher-altitude tours, it’s recommended to bring warm drinks.

Thermos:
We suggest bringing a plastic or, ideally, a stainless-steel thermos. You can use it to carry hot beverages during activities away from the camp.

Camera:
We recommend bringing a camera along with extra film or memory cards and batteries. If there’s a chance of rain, please make sure to protect your camera.

Sunglasses:
UV-protected sunglasses are highly recommended for outdoor activities. On snowy days, they are crucial to prevent retina burns or snow blindness.

Sunscreen, Moisturizers, and Lip Balms:
We recommend using sunscreen with at least SPF 45 in all seasons.

First Aid & Medication:
MONTIS Trips & Expeditions guides always carry comprehensive first aid kits. All our leaders have an International Wilderness First Aid (ECSII) Certification. However, we advise you to bring any personal medications and a small first aid kit with you.

Environmental Note:
We do not leave any trash or permanent marks in nature, so please remember to take everything you bring with you, including used items. You can bring a small trash bag to carry your waste or use empty plastic bags for this purpose.
