Snowshoeing in Cappadocia Under the Moonlight hakkında.

We invite you to an enjoyable winter tour in Cappadocia, one of the greatest and most extraordinary gifts of nature to our country. This weekend event, organized with one-night accommodation, will be like a fairy tale on the snow. We will explore the colorful valleys of Cappadocia, each a masterpiece of nature’s artistry. At a time when the region is covered in snow and crowded tourist groups have retreated, we plan to walk on these peaceful trails, this time on the snow.

Depending on the snow and precipitation conditions in the region, we will select and explore several valleys from our list for an unforgettable activity. In the evening, delightful winter conversations, delicious meals, and Cappadocian wine await us . Afterwards, we will continue our walk in Görkün Dere Valley as the moon rises.

We also recommend this tour to closed groups and families with different date options.

Recommended Personal Equipment to Bring

Please consider winter conditions and snowy weather!

  • Backpack: It is important that the backpack you bring is of a size that can hold the items you will need during the activity. Medium-sized trekking bags with a volume of around 35 – 45 liters are the most suitable for such activities.

  • Rain Cover for Backpacks: Rain cover bag cases, which are now standard in many backpacks, are also important details for use in rainy weather. If your backpack does not have a rain cover, we recommend obtaining one separately.

  • Sturdy Hiking Boots: For your health, please avoid walking in the wilderness for an extended period with flexible and soft-soled shoes. We recommend getting sturdy hiking boots designed for walking in nature.

  • Gaiters: Gaiters prevent snow and mud from entering your shoes and also provide insulation. We recommend having a pair of snow gaiters.

  • Spare Sports Shoes: We recommend bringing an extra pair of shoes for comfort during journeys and as spare footwear after walks, to leave in the vehicle.

  • Socks: It is always more comfortable and healthier to walk with synthetic trekking socks that have reinforced soles and toe tips. We recommend having a spare pair of socks with you for all walks.

  • Gloves – Hat: It is important to have gloves and a hat with you, especially in cold weather. For nature tours, we recommend hats designed to cover the ears. You should have at least one pair of medium-weight gloves for this tour.

  • Hat: We recommend having a hat with a brim, preferably designed to protect your neck from the sun. Bandanas and materials known as buffs can also be used as alternatives or in conjunction with a hat, and we recommend them for all seasons.

  • Rain Gear: We especially recommend using light, breathable, and adequately waterproof rain jackets or anoraks. These are crucial, especially during the fall-winter season and spring hikes.

  • Fleece Jacket and Warming Clothes: We recommend fleece jackets and half-zip fleece sweatshirts because they are lightweight and do not tend to retain moisture, making them suitable for nature activities. Wool and cotton clothing is not ideal for outdoor activities as they do not dry easily when wet.

  • Pants: We suggest getting an outer-layer pants with an acceptable level of waterproofing rather than padded ski pants. While inner layers and fleece pants may be sufficient, they do not provide enough protection in windy and wet conditions.

  • Beverages: We strongly recommend carrying 1.5 – 2 liters of water on walking tours. Sugary drinks will increase thirst over time, so they are not recommended. Depending on your preference, you can bring some of your drink in a thermos.

  • Thermos: If the interior is not made of glass, we recommend having a plastic or, better yet, a stainless steel thermos. In activities away from the campsite, you can also carry hot drinks with you in this way.

  • Camera: We recommend bringing a camera along with spare film or memory card and batteries on our tours. If there is an expectation of passing through wet environments or rainy weather, do not forget to take the necessary precautions to protect your cameras.

  • Sunglasses: Those with UV protection are preferred for outdoor activities. Especially on snowy winter days, sunglasses are crucial to prevent retinal burns or snow blindness due to excessive radiation.

  • Protective Sunscreen, Moisturizers, and Lipstick: We recommend high-protection factor sunscreens for all seasons.

  • First Aid and Medication: MONTIS Trips & Expeditions guides always carry comprehensive first aid kits. All our tour leaders have the International Wilderness First Aid (ECSI) Certificate. However, it is recommended to have your regularly used medications and a small personal first aid kit with you at all times. You can always call us to get more information about the selection of materials to be brought for our activities.

  • Walking Poles: We especially recommend using a pair of walking poles, especially for winter walks. Please choose collapsible telescopic models.

Environmental Note: We do not leave any trash or permanent traces in nature, so remember that everything
