St. Paul, in some of his extensive journeys undertaken to spread Christianity, repeatedly called on the people of the region to embrace Christianity in the synagogues of the Pisidia region. The challenges of attracting people to a new religion are certain. However, even more challenging is advancing in the geography of this region. We are sure that St. Paul faced considerable difficulties as he ascended northward toward the lake region, passing through impassable Taurus Mountains, canyons filled with cascading waters, and labyrinth-like rock formations known today as “Adam Rocks.” Yet, it is this challenging geography that has kept the region virtually untouched even to this day. You will observe that the people of the region, like in ancient Pisidia, are still a resilient population capable of surviving in a rugged and harsh environment. This will help you understand why Great Alexander and subsequently the Romans could never establish complete dominance here. In the portion of the St. Paul Trail passing through this challenging geography, you will experience the coolness of the snowy Taurus Mountains, captivating views of vast canyons, the largest Mediterranean Cypress Forest in Anatolia, the geological marvel of Adam Rocks, and the magnificent Ottoman-era houses in Kesme with remarkable wood craftsmanship.
We are heading to the St. Paul Trail, which includes Turkey’s most untouched marked paths. Are you ready?

Recommended Items to Bring & Our Suggestions
Travel Bag: For intercity travel, bring a bag large enough to carry your belongings.
We have an important request regarding this; do not bring hard suitcase-type bags for nature tours. These can cause problems both when loading into vehicles, when carrying in camping areas when necessary, and when putting them inside tents. Any type of soft sports bag, backpack, handbag, etc., is suitable for this trip.
Backpack: It is important that it is large enough to carry the items you will need during the activity you will participate in during the day. We do not recommend carrying items in your hand or outside the backpack during nature walks. Therefore, medium-sized backpacks with a volume of 35-45 liters are the most suitable for such activities.
Rain cover bag cases, which are now standard in many backpacks, are also an important detail needed in rainy weather. If your backpack does not have a rain cover, we recommend that you purchase one additionally.
Hiking-Friendly and Sturdy Soled Boots: For your health, please do not walk in the field for a long time with flexible and soft-soled shoes. If you are a steady walker, we recommend that you get trekking boots designed for walking in nature with a firm and orthopedic sole.
In rainy seasons, waterproofness is a sought-after feature in hiking boots.
Spare Sports Shoes: For comfort during journeys and as spare shoes for after walks, and to leave in the vehicle or camp during our hiking tours, we recommend bringing an extra pair of shoes.
Socks: It is always more comfortable and healthy to walk with synthetic trekking socks with supported soles and toe tips. We recommend having an extra pair of socks with you on all walks.
Gloves – Hat: In cold weather, it is important to have gloves and a hat with you. In nature tours, hats with a design that covers your ears are preferred. For this tour, you should have at least one pair of medium-weight gloves.
Hat: In all seasons, we recommend having a hat with a visor, preferably one that protects your neck from the sun. Bandanas and materials called buffs are also recommended for all seasons, either instead of or together with a hat.
Raincoat: We especially recommend using lightweight, breathable, and reasonably rain-resistant raincoats or anoraks. Anoraks should be with you in autumn-winter seasons and spring walks. We recommend Gore-Tex or similar material raincoats because they expel the steam from your body, significantly preventing sweating from the inside, and their waterproofing is also excellent.
Polar Jacket and Heating Clothes: We recommend polar jackets and half-zip polar sweatshirts as they are light and not prone to moisture, making them the recommended types of heating clothing for outdoor activities.
Woolen clothes are not very suitable for outdoor activities.
Insulated anoraks with fiberfill are heavy and take up a lot of space.
Therefore, polar clothes worn under a breathable raincoat/anorak are always preferred for being more comfortable and lightweight.
Pants and Shorts: We recommend using synthetic or semi-synthetic trekking pants for walks. Cotton materials such as denim and linen are not suitable for outdoor activities as they make movement difficult and do not dry quickly when wet.
We generally do not recommend shorts and short clothes for walks; they do not protect you from scratches and small injuries in rough terrains or trails with dense vegetation.
Drinks: We especially recommend having 1.5 – 2 liters of water on hiking tours. Sugary drinks will increase thirst over time, so they are not recommended. Depending on your preference, you can also bring part of your drink in a thermos as a hot drink. We particularly recommend bringing hot drinks in the fall-winter seasons.
Thermos: We recommend that you have a plastic or, better yet, a steel thermos with you, as long as it is not glass inside. You can also carry a hot drink with you in this way during activities away from the camp.
Camera: We recommend that you bring a camera with spare film or memory card and battery on our tours. If there is an expectation of passing through wet environments or rainy weather, we strongly recommend that you take the necessary precautions to protect your cameras.
Sunglasses: Those with UV protection should be preferred for outdoor activities. Especially on snowy winter days, sunglasses are very important as the excessive radiation can cause retinal burns or snow blindness.
Protective Sunscreen, Moisturizers, and Lipstick: We recommend high protection factor sunscreens, at least 45, for all seasons.
First Aid and Medication: MONTIS Trips&Expeditions guides always carry comprehensive first aid kits. All our tour leaders have an International Wilderness First Aid (ECSI) certificate. However, it is recommended that you always have your regularly used medications and a small personal first aid kit with you.
For more information on the selection of materials to be brought to our activities, you can always call us.
Environmental Note: We do not leave any trash or permanent traces in nature, so remember to return everything you brought for hiking tours after use. To carry back your waste, you can bring a small trash bag with you or use empty plastic bags to put your trash
