Hasandağ Volcano (3268 m) Alpine Ski Touring Ascent hakkında.

Hasandağ volcano is a mountain that overlooks Cappadocia and Salt Lake region. Like a guard protecting the fertile plains of Central Anatolia. It is impossible not to be enchanted by its magnificent mass, even if you just pass through the highways that around the mountain. As Erciyes, the largest volcano in Central Anatolia, and its brother Hasandağ gave all their volcanic fertility to these Anatolian plains and became the water source of this basin.

Ski climb to the 3265 m high Hasandağ ,or split boarding as well, is a short, demanding and satisfying weekend adventure. We have to confess that climbing this mountain with no snow is not very attractive for experienced hikers and mountain athletes. However, climbing this mountain on skis is definitely a worth-to have experience. Moreover, it does not take a long time to reach its peak. If you are at the right time in winter, if your physical condition and experience are sufficient, you can comfortably reach the summit with a well-prepared organization. In this trip, which we planned as a weekend activity, we also set aside a half day of skinning up and skiing together. This will help for reviewing our safety procedures as well as to have an acclimatization activity. Moreover, we will make this other tour as comfortable as possible with pension-hotel accommodation.

As the trip is for limited participants and highly requested, we recommend you to take a quick action to reserve your place in this beautiful experience.

  1. Detailed Itinerary 2 Days

Day 1: Departure from Ankara by private vehicle. Arrival at Hasandağ. Check-in our pension.

We depart from Ankara together in our private coach for the group. We will take a breakfast break on the way. We will arrive the bottom of Hasandağ before noon time. Our activity today is a one or two hour warm-up activity. This activity will increase our adaptation to each other, to the mountain and to the height. It will also be very efficient for us to review the indispensable safety procedures of alpine touring. By observing the conditions on the mountain, we will determine the most appropriate strategies for tomorrow. Relaxing in a warm pension at the end of the day is absolutely priceless.

Elevation Above Sea Level: The start of the hike is approximately 1800 m
Approximate Vehicle Transfer Time: 4-5 hours
    Activity Duration: 3 – 4 Hours
Meals Included: Lunch Pack (Snack pack) – Dinner

Day 2: Hasandağ summit attempt. Getting ready at the pension and returning to Ankara.

We set off for climbing from our pension really early in the morning. With a vehicle transfer of approximately 1 hour, we reach the place where our walk will begin. After a short preparation, we will start skinning up. Although the Hasandağ winter climbing does not include technical stages, a large part of it includes steep ascents. After about 4-5 hours of climbing, we will reach the summit of this magnificent volcano. From the summit, we will be able to see the Anti-Taurus Mountains(Aladağlar) and the Mount Erciyes, the highest volcano of Central Anatolia, in clear weather. Depending on the weather conditions, we will spend a maximum of 45 minutes at the summit. After that, it’s time to ski the huge face carefully down. As the altitude and the effect of daylight change, the structure of the snow you ski on also changes. Successive descent in such heterogeneous snow are highly stimulating experiences. After about 4 hours, we will be going to the pension back. After a rest and lunch in the village, we return to Ankara. We will be in Ankara in the evening.
